Refund policy

Every Fomu product is made to order and tailored to the selections confirmed for your order. We do not accept refunds for change of mind. Please consider all dimensions, materials, finishes and access requirements carefully before placing an order.

Warranty claims

Warranty claims are conducted in accordance with Australian Consumer Law. The warranty covers the original purchaser against defective workmanship where the structural integrity of an item is not fit for purpose. The warranty period begins once all goods have been delivered.

The warranty is void if product care instructions or any special care conditions supplied with the goods are not followed.

Making a claim

Send written notice to hello@fomudesign.com with:

• Photographs of the alleged fault
• Contact details for the designer or specifier, where applicable
• A copy of the tax receipt for the item

Fomu will assess whether the item needs an on-site inspection or should be returned to Fomu in Melbourne. Fomu may repair or replace an item at its discretion. Estimated repair or replacement timing will be discussed with the client in writing and assessed case by case.

Limitations and exclusions

To the extent permitted by law, implied warranties are limited and Fomu is not liable for loss of time, inconvenience, commercial loss, incidental loss or consequential damage. Warranty is void where a product has been disassembled, modified or repaired by an unapproved third party. Misuse and exposure to extreme environmental conditions, including sunlight, are excluded.

Solid timber, timber veneer, joinery and tables

• Two-year warranty for structural integrity under normal use.
• Natural variations in colour, texture and figuring are not faults.
• Movement, joint separation, bowing and direct-sunlight damage are excluded.
• Scratches, expansion, colour changes, chips, burns and splits caused by everyday use are excluded.
• Chipping to painted or stained timber is considered wear and tear.

Upholstered items

• Two-year warranty for structural integrity under normal use.
• Coverage includes timber and metal frames, suspension and foam integrity.
• Fabric and leather wear and tear are excluded.
• Fading or breakdown caused by sunlight or extreme weather is excluded.

Metal furniture

• Two-year warranty for structural integrity under normal use.
• Powdercoat chipping and scratches caused by wear and tear are excluded.
• Indoor metal exposed to the elements is excluded.
• Oxidation and tarnishing of raw metal are natural and not manufacturing faults.

Stone, laminate, resin, glass, plastics and Perspex

Externally sourced materials may have supplier-specific warranties, available on request. Broken, missing or ceased attachments are not warranted.

Outdoor furniture

• Two-year warranty for structural integrity under normal use.
• Wear, appearance changes and performance changes caused by the elements are excluded.
• Fabric fading or breakdown caused by sunlight, UV or moisture is excluded.
